BMW E30 318is duplex chainset large for M42 engines

Offered is a high quality duplex chain drive set to improve and strengthen the chain drive of an m42 engine until September 1993.
The components meet the highest quality standards and thus achieve new standards in every respect.

Scope of delivery:

-2x duplex camshaft sprocket incl. 2 sensor pins and mounting screws.
-1x crankshaft sprocket
-1x duplex timing chain set incl. connecting link with spring steel clasp
-1x adapter bolt incl. retaining ring for use with M44 tensioning bar
-1x timing case stiffener for chain idler sprocket incl. bolts
-1x chain idler wheel, multi-piece and hardened

Sprockets:
The sprockets, milled from the solid, achieve the highest quality standards through machining on state-of-the-art machining centers.
The selected base material in conjunction with a suitable quenching and tempering process, provides an excellent combination of tough core and hard and wear resistant surface.

Timing chain:
The duplex timing chain set with connecting link used is the proven counterpart to the simplex variant that has been in use for years.
It is an open, heat-treated and pre-stretched timing chain with seamless chain sleeves (usually timing chain sleeves have a separation point). These chains are made exclusively of case-hardened and quenched and tempered steels. The requirements of the relevant standard are significantly exceeded in terms of fatigue strength as well as breaking load.

Adapter pins:
Included in the set is of course the proven adapter bolt so that one can use the still available tensioning bar (11311743262) of the M44 engine without further modifications.

Timing case stiffener:
The entire chain drive is only as strong as the weakest link in the chain. Therefore, of course, the tried and tested stiffening of the timing case for the area of the chain idler wheel must not be missing.

Chain idler wheel:
This newly designed multi-part version allows the ball bearing to be replaced economically. The sprocket is -like all our sprockets- made of the same material and of course surface hardened.


Note:
This set does not include slide rails. These are almost all still new available from BMW. Except for the tensioning rail of an M44 engine (11311743262), all other rails can be used unchanged and suitable for the basic engine.

The chain idler as well as the crankshaft sprocket are only available in the duplex version for economic reasons. The use with a simplex chain is of course possible without restrictions.
