Und das sagt Burton zu dem Board:

The Mystery Landlord is a hybrid of two boards – The Burton Landlord and the Burton Mystery. This mysterious by name, mysterious by nature, machine is a lighter, faster and more tapered version of the Burton Landlord (with the shape and profile remaining the same).

With its Dragonfly 500g Core, this Burton board is one of the lightest boards out there. This is Burton’s lightest core ever, which is made with carbon laminations that provide both pop and performance (and use a minimal amount of materials). They’ve also added something called “Mystery Glass” to this stick, which is some kind of feather-light extra-terrestrial tech that improves both the power and response of the board.

The directional flex gives the board power in the tail and allows you to really drive through the last phase of your turns. This makes it easier to maintain control over the board as you charge through whatever gets in your way. The setback camber also provides for good edge hold, and more precision under the back foot.

Safe to say, if you’re on a budget – look elsewhere. However, if you’re willing to spend the big bucks to get a board that is lightyears ahead of the game, this will be a welcome addition.

“Holy mother of God. TWELVE. HUNDRED. BIG ONES. The only way I could afford this one is if I cancelled the flights and hotel of my next snowboard holiday. And that kind of defeats the point. Anyway, let me try and assess this from the point of view of someone with more money (or even fewer brains) than me:

It’s seriously light, let’s start there. Burton have massively reduced the weight by building the Mystery Landlord around their lightest core and then shaving extra grams with carbon additives just about everywhere. It really is insanely lightweight, but there’s none of the twitchiness you’d expect to find – proper solid when riding on the edge.

No doubt that’s down to the “Mystery Glass”, too. But come on Burton, tell me what it is, don’t just give it an ambiguous name. If I’m going to a restaurant, I’d feel very wary about ordering the “Mystery Seafood Platter”. Even more so if it came in at three times the cost of the other dishes on the menu.
