On April 3, Ukrposhta officially put into circulation the postal block "Cities of Heroes. Chernihiv region", dedicated to the victorious and courageous cities and villages: Chernihiv, Nizhyn, Semenivka and Yagidne.

Ukrposhta continues a series of postal issues about unconquered and heroic cities of our country and Ukrainians.

The postal block honors and celebrates the heroic towns and villages of Chernihiv Oblast.

From the first day of the large-scale invasion, Russia tried to occupy Chernihiv Oblast with lightning speed, giving the region the role of the "northern gate" for capturing the capital. In the plans of the occupiers, Chernihiv was supposed to become a logistics center, from where the means of warfare would be transported across the Desna River. However, the Ukrainians' desperate resistance did not allow the Russians' plans to materialize.


For more than a month, since February 24, 2022, the enemy has been trying to occupy the territory of Chernihiv region to get as close to the capital as possible.

Despite the danger, the locals actively resisted: they set up artificial obstacles to the advance of enemy vehicles on the roads, tracked their movement and passed information to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in other words, did everything to help the defenders hold back the offensive.

The Ukrainian military fought desperately for every meter of their homeland and by April 3, 2022, drove the Russian aggressor out of the entire region.

With the liberation, peace did not return to the region, as the proximity of the border with Russia allows the enemy to launch constant missile attacks aimed at settlements in the region.

But this did not prevent active recovery from the Russian invasion. The Chernihiv region has survived and is rebuilding, and its residents deserve our sincere respect for their active struggle.


The postal block, consisting of 4 stamps, honors the heroic Chernihiv Oblast, a region that would have become a logistical center for the enemy if not for the resistance of Ukrainians. The village of Yagidne, located near Chernigov, was occupied in early March. 360 residents, including 69 children, including infants, were taken prisoner and kept for 27 days in an unlivable, cramped basement of a small local school. The village of Semenivka, where volunteers evacuated people from Chernigov using the crossing over the Desna River near the village of Berezna. Postage stamps dedicated to Chernihiv and Nizhyn honor the courage, patriotism and care of the residents and defenders who did not allow the Russian army to occupy these cities.

The circulation of the postal block is 150,000 copies. The denomination of stamps is M (corresponds to the tariff for sending internal registered letters without declared value (recommended) weighing up to 50 g).

The postal issue continues the "Cities of Heroes" series. The sketches for it were developed by the creative agency I AM IDEA.

03.04.2024 is put into circulation and is considered valid for payment of postal services in all postal offices, postal block No. 208 "Cities of Heroes. Chernihiv region".
