Hi, my name is Judith. I’m a freelance language teacher and translator for German and English.

I have a Master's degree in American Studies, German Philology and Art History. My interest in literature and other fields of art such as photography, painting, film and music is reflected in my work as a teacher. Since 2014, I’ve been teaching German and English to students of different language levels, from absolute beginners to advanced learners (A1 to C2 level). My clients’ cultural, professional and personal backgrounds couldn’t be more diverse, so I’m trying to adjust my teaching methods to each student’s individual needs and personal interests. Whether you would like to prepare for an exam, a job interview, a presentation or simply improve your everyday German, I’ll be happy to help you with it. I’ve also worked as a translator and interpreter, translating texts from German to English and vice versa, and thereby supporting such diverse professionals as photographers, filmmakers, art historians, psychologists, social workers, scientists, advertising specialists and many more.

Language isn’t my only love, though. I also have an education in photography. If you share my passion for the arts or if you are eager to learn more about it, we can make it an integral part of our lessons. Looking at pictures and talking about them can be an effective way to expand your vocabulary and to become more fluent in a language.

I’ve made it a habit, which has proved very useful for my students, to send them a hand-tailored list with words or phrases and other helpful information after each class; it helps them to remember what they have learned and to make progress faster.

I teach students either one-on-one or in small groups, privately or on behalf of their companies. Lessons are usually conducted online, but if you live in Berlin and prefer face-to-face meetings, you are welcome in my apartment in Berlin Neukölln / Rixdorf. In specific cases, lessons can also be held at your apartment or office, or in public places such as cafés, parks or museums.

I can also help and support you at your appointment with one of the Berlin-based authorities, such as the Jobcenter, the BAMF (Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge), the Jugendamt or the Handwerkskammer.
